Following up on the news earlier this summer of the organizational change that separates the Finance and Budget team into two units, Lindsay Farling has accepted the permanent role of associate vice chancellor for Budget and Data Analysis, effective immediately.
Farling will provide leadership to the new unit, Budget and Data Analysis, which will include the functions of enterprise-wide policy and data analysis; the University’s financial data analytics and reporting; and the University’s Budget, Planning and Analysis (BP&A) department. Farling brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the UNC System and state budgeting, enrollment funding, and tuition and fees processes. With extensive experience in financial analysis, Farling will bring valuable expertise to this new unit, enhancing the University’s financial strategies and decision-making processes.
Farling started in her role as executive director of Financial Policy and Data Analysis at Carolina in November 2022, serving as interim leader of the new unit since May. Lindsay has been instrumental in the adoption of the allocation model, an enrollment-based approach for revenue sharing of new tuition and appropriation. Previously, she was the vice president for Financial Planning and Analysis at the UNC System Office. Before working at the UNC System Office, Farling worked for UNC-Chapel Hill between 2007-2012.
Farling is a native of North Carolina with bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and biology from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MBA from Elon University.
