2022-2023 Operating Budget
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 2022-2023 Operating Budget is the first all-funds budget in the history of the University. The FY 2022-23 Budget Book presented here provides a high-level view of operating revenues and expenses for the University and its major operating units and describes the process and priorities that have guided decision-making across campus during budget development.
The FY 2022-23 budget process included a review of more than 1,700 requests totaling $173 million in new funding, with allocations focused on three themes: Supporting Carolina’s Excellence, Invest in North Carolina’s Future, and Promote Fiscal Responsibility. The end result was an all-funds budget that totals $4 billion for University initiatives and reflects the diversity and complexity of UNC-Chapel Hill’s funding and missions.
The FY 2022-23 Operating Budget was approved by the Board of Trustees on March 23, 2022, and by the Board of Governors on May 24, 2022.
